Twos R Us Childcare

Here at Twos R Us Childcare, we learn through crafts, books, language, visual resources and physically witnessing the subject. In other words, I try to make the subject ‘come alive’ as I deliver the awe and wonder of the world about us.

Children spend many years inside a classroom so while they’re young and can explore, I take them on a journey of discovery.

The learning is often taken outside. We painted bear masks whilst visiting the bears at the zoo. In the spring, using glue and tissue paper, we made a blossom tree whilst sitting near one in full bloom and we watched the bees hover around it. We talked about those bees making honey - then sat down to try our honey sandwiches.

Each year, I buy live caterpillars and the children watch them grow and change. We feed the butterflies when they emerge and finally, on a sunny day, set them free – in my butterfly friendly garden. We visit a butterfly house to see the different types of chrysalides and the larger species of butterfly.

When we learn about fish, aside from crafts and books, we introduce new language of wriggling, flapping and slippery. We visit an aquarium and tropical fish store to see the different types of fish. One day we took our fishing nets to a stream to try and catch the fish. We didn’t catch a thing!

I encourage free play because a child needs to discover and learn. This is how they make sense of the world and they need this knowledge in order to problem solve. This teaches them a way of learning which will enhance their life skills. Being encouraged to try again and to concentrate, if embedded at an early age, enhances their learning through life.

Parents' Area

Like a nursery, I also deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage so activities here support the learning areas of the EYFS. These are important for building a foundation to ignite children’s curiosity and enthusiasm for learning and thriving.

This may be very emotional for you and can be unsettling for your child so it’s essential we get it right by working together. You and your child meet with me on several occasions to help them get to know me. In the park, at my home, at yours - it all helps them get acquainted. Once they start officially I will constantly reassure them and comfort them.

It may be a good idea to bring something from home to comfort your child when you are not there (perhaps leave a few family photos that we can look at together.)

Goodbyes are best if quick and upbeat as possible. This avoids any unnecessary distress to your child – and you!

I will update you (by text or WhatsApp) to reassure you that your child is settling nicely

About Me

My name is Lorayne Rutter and I began childminding in January 2012. Prior to providing child care at home, I had worked within a school setting since April 2008.

When my daughter joined primary school I became an active member of the school’s parent association and helped take part in the events held for the children (aged 4 to 11). My daughter is now a Surveyor, my son is a plumber and we all live with our ‘Man about the House’ – Ken.

My aim is to keep your child ‘safe and sound’- helping them learn as I make the subject ‘come alive’ with the awe and wonder of the world about us.

Many of my activities are carried out with close childminder colleagues and their minded children. This means your child will have the opportunity of mixing with a larger group of regular friends - in addition to socialising at our local toddler groups.

I have good communication with the local Children’s Centre and maintain close partnership working with any local preschools and nurseries.

The children and I also have good links within the community- attending Local church playgroups and rhyme-time sessions. I provide a library form for you to complete - which means your child has their own card. Then, each week we visit the library and the children choose books to take home. After sharing the books with you for the week, return them to me and we repeat the process. This helps shape a lifelong love of books and reading.

Testimonials

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

"I had worked in childcare for many years before needing to find a childminder and I didn’t realise how scary it was for a parent. From the minute I met Lorayne I had nothing to worry about. My daughter was with Lorayne for 2 1/2 years.

The only way to describe Lorayne is amazing! She has so much knowledge about children’s development and needs and always puts them first. My daughter got to have the best experiences with Lorayne, whether it was trips out in the magic bus or activities planned at home. And the fact she had so much fun meant it took away the guilt of having to go work.

Lorayne will always take the time to discuss your child’s progress or any thing you want to talk about. My main concern when leaving my daughter in any childcare is that she is safe, cared for and happy and being with Lorayne she was all of these and so much more.

I also can’t write a review with out mentioning ken, who’s always there to be silly with!

I honestly can’t recommend Lorayne enough and I am just so grateful that she has been a part of mine and my daughters lives and I’m so thankful to Lorayne in helping shape my daughter into who she is today"

The Agency is regulated by Ofsted so I’m still in the Ofsted chain of command.

What does that mean to you the parent:

• I’m inspected annually unlike Ofsted Inspections.

• The Agency would contact you directly … for example if I had a bad report
